Copan Ruinas, Honduras
God impressed upon me that the best way to change a culture is to focus up children and train up a new generation of young men and women. This is a difficult but momentous task. Closed doors have open in local schools and we are seeing lives changes.
A NEW KIND of DAD ministries was founded by Tim A. Setliff for the purpose of transforming families by teaching men to be Biblical fathers. In Honduras, 70% of the children live in homes with no father.
As I was writing this, God spoke to me. "One person can change the world." I don't know which young man or woman I will touch that will become a change maker. He wants me to be faithful to share the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am excited to hear Holy Spirit's guiding voice as I serve the Lord here in Honduras.
The little boy is Jorge. I gave him a Bible storybook. He wanted me to read it with him. He calls me Abuelo Tim - Grandfather. He doesn't have a grandfather. God seems to always make up for that which is lacking. I'm a great-grandfather. My great-grandchildren are in the states. No one can take their place, but it is precious to have Jorge.
I have two sending churches, Celebration Church in Raleigh and Wayside Baptist Tabernacle in Lexington, NC.
Through the prayers and financial support of our sending churches, we are able to touch lives and provide various ministries to the less fortunate here in Copan Ruiñas and the surrounding mountain villages.
Nothing is more exciting than to know that people are praying for us. In addition to the sending churches, Faith Memorial Baptist Church in Danville, VA. and Grace Baptist Church in Floyd, VA. are faithful to pray and give regular support.

MY CALL TO THE MISSION FIELD
About 6 years ago, I cried out to God and asked Him to allow me to finish strong. All my life, I've believed that God had more for me to do. At age 66, the doors began to open for me to go to Central America. I was told, "Learning a foreign language is difficult as we get older." He must have forgotten Philippians 4:13.
I prayed and asked God to open doors and help me learn Spanish. Three 1/2 years ago, I moved to Copan Ruinas to begin the ministry.
During me fifth week in language school, the teacher told me about a couple who were 55. They studied in the school for 8 months. She said, "Today, you just passed them in the textbook."
God has been faithful to bless in incredible ways. I have had many divine encounters. I find myself at the right place and at the right time. Doors of opportunity open and people's lives are being changed.
Jesus said, "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel." In Honduras, the Gospel is very often nothing more than "easy believism". I hear messages that God loves you and Jesus died for your sins. Pray this prayer and you will be saved. There is nothing about repentance, sin, and the necessity of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
God has given me the opportunity to talk to many people and share the Gospel. I tell them that "all have sinned and come short of the glory of God". I explain repentance and how salvation is a gift of grace through faith, not of works. I never try to pressure anyone. Many of these people say, "I want to receive Jesus".
Because of your prayers and generous support, I am able to share the Gospel. I am being faithful. Thank each of you who pray for me and bless me with your support.
